I'm a learner. Just about every personality or strengths inventory affirms that. In undergrad, I studied psychology, then got my Master of Arts in education. I was fortunate to be able to complete a doctorate in Educational Leadership, with coursework in training and development and organizational design. My research focused on stereotype threat, a condition where performance is inhibited because of existing stereotypes, and how to interrupt those threats.
As an advisor working with people on their vocational direction for over 20 years, and an organizational director for 17, I can help you identify transformational practices for personal and professional evolution. I'd love to share what I have discovered with you.
My story: after 25 years in a field I truly believed would make the kind of change I want to see in the world, I started to experience health challenges. While I was on medical leave and working with multiple health professionals, I was also in deep discernment with a counselor and spiritual director. I came to the recognition that my values and ways of being were not in alignment with the organization's approach. I left that role, began the grieving process, and continued my discernment.
While I was searching for new work opportunities, my Person died. My cousin, who was also my best friend, and just one year older, took her own life. It completely wrecked me.
All of this happened after the collective trauma of the pandemic and the racial reckoning in 2020. Ultimately I realized that this confluence points to an opportunity to transform myself and build the kind of life I want to have for the second half of my existence. Now I am designing a path in a new direction that aligns with my values of learning, liberation, and love. Because of this journey, I have a lot of wisdom and experience to share.
